Rahman Gone in Tower Hamlets
The mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, has been found guilty of corrupt and illegal practices by an election court judge, who has declared his election void.

Richard Mawrey, the election commissioner, said the conduct of Rahman’s supporters on polling day has caused “considerable disquiet” and corrupt practices had “extensively prevailed”.

Four voters took legal action against Rahman, the independent mayor of the east London borough, at a hearing in the high court.

They had asked Mawrey to declare the result of the May 2014 mayoral election, which saw Mr Rahman elected for a second term, void and order a re-run.

Mawrey said Rahman had been an “evasive” witness and that he had ignored and flouted laws.

He suggested that Rahman, who was born in Bangladesh, had played “race” and “religious” cards and had been guilty of “corrupt practice”.

What a strange idea. Especially when you consider that this was made possible by a change in voting law leading to the very modern practice of mass postal voting.

"Play the white man!!"

Now, before you rush, in total apoplexy to rush out a reply to try to get me to shut the fuck up, read on for an alternative take. You DO tolerate alternative views, don't you?

I use that term as an expression of underlying sentiment, and NOT in a racist manner.

The BRITISH establishment, insisting on maintaining a very BRITISH system of electing it's political representatives all but ensured something like this would happen.

YOU might not like that point of view, but since when was the sole purpose of the world to be liked by YOU?

The way voting takes place in the UK has scarcely changed since it was first introduced (I'll defer to someone with a greater knowledge of dates to help, if they would be so kind).

Back in the day, before the Industrial Revolution, before the empire was a glint in the monarch's eye - and certainly before peasants & commoners, let alone women, got the vote, all that was needed was to put a mark in the appropriate place on a piece of paper. Rigorous (cross-) checks were not needed because, by dint of their position in society knew, or at least knew someone else who knew, everybody eligible to vote.

As the right to vote dropped down the ladder of society, there seems to have been maintained an insistence on maintaining exactly the same processes, procedures & practices regarding eligibility to vote ant the actual process itself. A VERY British tradition had to be maintained. Why? Who knows. Maybe the equivalent of a comfort blanket for already privileged to vote.

That very British tradition, along with the assumption that everybody would act like a gentleman and respect the spirit of the voting process, before and after taking Tiffin, had led directly to the situation that arose in Tower Hamlets.

Take a bow, British traditionalists, YOU are wholly responsible for allowing this to happen. I hope you feel jolly proud of yourselves whilst sipping cocktails at the regatta.

Not really unexpected when you look at the state of politics in Bangladesh. The lengths people go to in that country to gain and keep power are quite unbelievable. Where there's muck, there's brass.

Thats what happens when everybody is to bloody PC to ask questions for fear of being called racist.
It is alleged the Old Bill knew he was crooked but didnt want to be called racist .
This wanker Rahman called anyone that questioned him a Islamophobe.
Even today Ken Livingstone and George Galloway still support him. 3 cunts together.

Tick tock.

Great put downs on the high court decision

682 The real losers in this case are the citizens of Tower Hamlets and, in particular, the Bangladeshi community. Their natural and laudable sense of solidarity has been cynically perverted into a sense of isolation and victimhood, and their devotion to their religion has been manipulated – all for the aggrandisement of Mr Rahman. The result has been to alienate them from the other communities in the Borough and to create resentment in those other communities. Mr Rahman and Mr Choudhury, as has been seen, spent a great deal of time accusing their opponents, especially Mr Biggs, of ‘dividing the community’ but, if anyone was ‘dividing the community’, it was they.

683 The Bangladeshi community might have thought itself fortunate to have been the recipient of the Mayor’s lavish spending but in the end the benefits were small and temporary and the ill effects long-lasting. It was fool’s gold.

684 Central government has already had to intervene once, and, on 4 November 2014, the Secretary of State, Mr Eric Pickles, announced the appointment of commissioners to take over a number of functions of the Mayor and Council, particularly in relation to grants. It is obviously not for this court to suggest, still less recommend, any further course of action but it seems likely that the governance of this Borough will have to be examined in the not too distant future.

685 On past form, it appears inevitable that Mr Rahman will denounce this judgment as yet another example of the racism and Islamophobia that have hounded him throughout his political life. It is nothing of the sort. Mr Rahman has made a successful career by ignoring or flouting the law (as this Petition demonstrates) and has relied on silencing his critics by accusations of racism and Islamophobia. But his critics have not been silenced and neither has this court.

686 Events of recent months in contexts very different from electoral malpractice have starkly demonstrated what happens when those in authority are afraid to confront wrongdoing for fear of allegations of racism and Islamophobia. Even in the multicultural society which is 21st century Britain, the law must be applied fairly and equally to everyone. Otherwise we are lost

Re: Rahman Gone in Tower Hamlets
I"d like to see him and his cronies deported!

His deputy who takes over for now has the same surname and refused to apologise to the electorate or accept the decision and kept refering to the ex mayor as mayor on national TV last night, when it was pointed out that Rahman was not the mayor anymore he said 'he's still the mayor to me" This cunt is now in charge, how can that be?

The council was run like a banana republic, he had s limo and chauffeur, even boris does not have one. He used taxis paid for by the taxpayer to bring him Mc fucking Donalds.
There is a list as long as your arm from voting fraud to selling public buildings to his muslim mates at discount prices and giving public funding to his muslim buddies.
He also had strong links to radical islamist groups who secretly planned for Sharia Law.

Would fucking love to see this cunt do time and then deported back to the shithole from where he came.

I am presuming this case was "civil" i.e. it's based on a "balance of probability" judgement of the judge meaning you just decide 51% whether someone is guilty or innocent, so to speak.

With criminal cases the CPS has to be confident the jury will find someone guilty "beyond reasonable doubt" e.g. 95% sure they are guilty. That is a very different burden of proof and why some people don't get done in criminal court but lose in a civil suit.

"Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability". This, George Galloway did not say to the four brave Tower Hamlet's residents who brought this case to the High Court.

Funny how we've not heard anything from the normally voluble Scottish gobshite about this case.

Also, the Met Police and Electoral Commission should hang their heads in shame for failing in their duty.
